Yesterday was the start of an exhibit of Bob Peak and Drew Struzan movie poster art, entitled ‘Drew & Bob: Masters of Movie Art’.
There seems to very little information available about this exhibit, except that:
1. It takes place in Glendale, CA.
2. It’s being held at a funeral home (seriously)
3. The opening reception is February 1st.
I don’t know how many works will be exhibited, or which pieces. But I expect if you’re in the area, it’s going to be worth a visit regardless. (If one of our readers DOES check it out, please fill us in on the details!)
For more information, visit Bob’s website: http://www.bobpeak.com/bob-peak-drew-struzan-the-masters-of-movie-art/
so that is the poster to advertise the exhibition of two of the all time best poster artists…
On top of being held at a funeral home, this further pushes the point of poster art today. @:-(
I know, right?
I really miss illustrated movie posters. The same goes for record albums, all gone.
I read once that Steven Spielberg said of Drew Struzan's work (esp. movie posters) …”the most collectable artist of our time…” something like that.
I will have to go see this.
I'll be checking it out on March 8th!
Lots of famous movie stars are buried in that cemetery (which likely has had a lot of visitors because of that), and they've had lots of art shows in the past. Besides, I wouldn't mind having my art in the same company as this great Bouguereau: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:William-Adolphe_Bouguereau_%281825-1905%29_-_Song_of_the_Angels_%281881%29.jpg (located at the museum: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest_Lawn_Memorial_Park,_Glendale)

Wow! Thanks for the info. I suspected there was some sort of historical significance.
