The color a thing appears to be is, to put it simplistically, a combination of the color of the light and the color of the thing. But most people only think in terms of the color of the thing, and therefore miss the big unifying factor of all things: the light. This exercise shows you how to flip that, paint only the light, then introduce the color of the thing (or its “local color”).
