Horns up!! Thought I’d share a few quickies this month from IX con! All of these paintings were one session pieces, and I attacked them in the same way. (Pretty Much)

I started with an acrylic Wash over a Conte pastel drawing. Working in the Conte first, kept the drawing light and flexible. I could lift it off in areas if needed, and I stayed with like a brick red pastel so I would not have to compete with a dark black line. I locked that drawing in with a pretty monochrome Violet Oxide Golden Fluid Acrylic wash, which let me add values where I wanted. The the fun began and I want nuts with oil paint. Got a bit crazy using pallet knife and even oil sticks. After that was down, most of the rendering is actually a lift off technique, scraping and lifting the oil with rubber squeegees, and sponges and cotton swabs. Finally a bit of light white opaque for polish in areas and the final highlights. Hope you all dig um!

(Guitar riffs all by me.)
