Fischer Paints: Muse- Dimebolt and… designing Sebastian Bach’s new album art. What!?

New process video of my tribute the legend, Dimbag Darrel, of Pantera! (R.I.P. 2004) Painted as part of my Rock&Roll Fantasy series with Wentworth Gallery for the Monsters of Rock Cruise. This series depicts beautiful muses (in the Greek sense) with legendary guitars. Tried to stay faithful to Dime’s Dean ML, down to the KISS sticker and electrical tape on the neck pickup. (A detail I almost missed, but for the keen eye of friend Jon.) Oil on panel.

Speaking of rock stars, this art-life can be wild folks. If you had asked me a decade ago if I’d have Rock and Roll Fantasy paintings hanging in a gallery with literal rockstars, Ida thought you lost your mind. Yet here we are. And here I was two weeks ago in a gallery in the middle of the ocean, on the Monsters of Rock Cruise. Hugging it out with metal god, Sebastian Bach, of Skid Row. (And Jekyll and Hyde on Broadway. Masked singer. Trailer Park boys. AND Gilmore Girls! Remember that band the daughter was in, Hep Alien? Baz Played ‘Gil’ in the band.)

I had the pleasure of helping Sebastian on his new album cover. It is his father’s David Bierk’s art I was more of a designer. David passed away in 2002. And actually painted two other albums for Skid Row, including the multi platinum ‘Slave to the Grind’ (Below). Sebastian had a cover concept, and I acted as his hands. I took a couple of his dad’s paintings and combined them for the front. In the big painting, with the car, that kid is 10 yr old Sebastian. Then I edited in a later portrait his father painted of him from the Skid Row days. (I also did the gatefold, sleeves and back cover, using photos from his life. Good times.) In the gatefold, Sebastian gave me a landscape his pops did, and I added a collage of photos from his entire life. (Which was quite the compositional undertaking and a massive photoshop file, lol!!!) Holy hell 18 year old me is headbanging so hard to all this.
