Painting the X-Men’s Blink in Oil Paints

May 22, 2024 - Hey everyone! Last time I posted, I shared a few quick process videos. I'm happy to say I have a new one to share with you again today. This video shows the process of painting 'Blink' from the X-Men, for the latest Marvel Masterpieces trading card set. The most challenging part of this painting for me was the color. Blink has pink skin with reddish hair, and I was worried about the image looking too 'Christmas-y' given the green of her outfit. It took a few color studies to get it right, but I managed to avoid some issues by shifting the pink skin more toward a purple than red. The other challenge was getting her magical portals to glow as much as I'd wanted while not detracting from her magical dagger or her face.…
