I recently decided to stop printing my work through short-run digital printers. Offset printing just looks better, is more consistent, and far more cost effective. I can then pass this significant savings on to my customers.
The downside with offset printing is, I have to print a lot of them. As such, I can’t make prints of every single piece I’ve ever done, or I wouldn’t be able to walk into my studio.
I hope to slowly expand the selection of prints available on my website’s shop, but am having a hard time deciding which ones to print (I will likely only choose 2 at this time). I’m hoping you guys will help me out, and please let me know which pieces you would most like to see offered.
I am debating between:
Blood Divided
Soul Born
Kalimpura
Dragon Empress
Moiraine
Dresden
Shiva’s Crown
It would be a great help to me if you let me know which was your favorite by voting in the poll at the right. Thanks! (poll closed)

I was wondering… has a print ever been made available of the “Warbreaker” art? It is my favorite cover piece (possibly ever) and I would love to see a print available someday!
I have a limited number of Warbreaker prints available, but have only sold them at conventions, in person. I will post them on my site soon. Thanks for reminding me!
Blood Divide & Shiva's Crown. They are the most popular choices so far. There's a big difference between what works on a book cover and what works hanging on your wall. If a picture is TOO narrative or too specific it won't adapt itself to my changing mood from day to day. Shiva's Crown will look spiritual when I'm feeling spiritual, sad when I'm sad, resolute when I've made a decision, she will adapt herself to my mood and because of that won't become tiresome. Some of the more specific narrative images are really great work and sell lots of books, but they are much too inflexible in terms of what I'm supposed to feel when I look at them. They will often conflict with the way I feel at the moment. This will get them taken down from the wall much sooner than the others.
blood divided and the dragon empress. also can you talk a bit about who you are going to use to print your prints? your experience with them etc? i am curious so maybe some other out there are too? thanks
I'd pick the ones that are the most universal and aren't specific to a narrow narrative, like Shiva's Crown and Blood Divided, though I really love Moiriane.
Blood Divided and Dragon Empress. Both are so visually appealing without requiring any background knowledge to appreciate the character. Of course, I'd love a print of Green and Switchblade Goddess too, on the off chance we're making suggestions for the future.
Good luck with your print sales! I'm currently experimenting with using an Epson Artisan to create short run prints after getting tired of storing them in my closet/basement/garage/roof/etc. I think I would love to see a photo of how you're storing all of these babies!
Big flat files! I used to print mine on an Epson as well, just so I could do it on demand. But after adding up the cost of ink, printer, paper, not to mention the time spent overseeing it, it was costing me almost $15 a poster. That expense unfortunately gets passed on to the customer. In the long run, I'd rather have a pro handle it.
Dan, most of those pieces use characters that are copyrighted by either the publisher or the author. I know an artist owns the original artwork, but how does the legal angle work when selling prints?
Unlike comic book characters, these characters likenesses are not copyrighted. The works they appear in are.
I can make prints of some characters; like Mercy, Dresden, etc… I just can't use their name on the print without permission. That is why you won't see a Wheel of Time logo on my Moiraine piece.
Conversely, with characters like 'Mal' from Firefly, I would need permission to print. Which is why you do not see it here.
Blood Divided and Moiraine are my favourite pieces, though Shiva's Crown I could easily see as a general art print rather than a specific fantasy based print.

Kalimpura and Shiva's Crown for me. i think Shiva's has this depth about it that is almost Trompe-l'œil.
Blood divided and moiraine

Shiva's crown.
I would love to own a copy of Moiraine and Shiva's crown.
Moiraine
Shiva's Crown
Blood divided, and dragon empress
Dragon Empress!
Shivas Crown I think it shows you really pushing your skills!
moiraine and shivas crown
Shiva's Crown would look great on the wall, it's very graphic. Moiraine is my second fav!
Shiva's Crown and Blood divided!
Blood divided & Shiva's Crown
Blood Divided and Moraine. Shiva's Crown has a more universal appeal though, so might be an easier sell to the non-geek spouse to get it on the wall.
Blood Divided (voted for) but also Shiva's Crown for a wider audience (as Ben above just said)

Shiva's crown…I can look and look and keep looking at this one…what's she thinking about?

Dragon Empress and Blood Divided. Shivas Crown is close third.

Blood Divided! That piece is just gorgeous. I could look at it for hours…
I like Moiraine, Dragon Empress and Blood Divided best.
Non-geeks? Pshaw!
I see! Thanks, Dan.
Blood Divided… its just breathtaking…
Please do a print of Blood Divided and Dragon Empress. They're all wonderful pieces, but those two really stood out.
I say Shiva Crown and Dragon Empress. Where do you get your prints done?
Blood Divided and Moiraine are my favourite pieces, though Shiva's Crown I could easily see as a general art print rather than a specific fantasy based print.
Moiraine.
