December 16, 2024 - Hello all! These pieces are a few years old but I haven't shared them all yet - First, book 1! I dove into sketches for this knowing it was for younger readers than most of the work I had done at that point, and I had so much fun. I love painting horses, and this felt like playing! We went through a few rounds of sketches. Team liked the left side but wanted more vibrant color -   Then we had a change of direction to something more gentle in tone, focused on the bond between the girl and her horse -     And with the note to have the girl make eye contact and to bring back the really vibrant colors, here's how the final came out!
